Giovanna Blackston-Keren

Giovanna is an experienced and dynamic brand strategist who together with her clients creates strategic, business-ready brand platforms designed for growth. In addition to developing the strategic backbone for her clients’ brands, she also manages full branding programs from conception to final design and implementation. With a passion for research-based insights and an indefatigable pursuit of nuance, Giovanna has developed some of the most trenchant brand platforms for her clients.

Before Metaforce, Giovanna worked at boutique branding firm DeSantis Breindel, specializing in Financial Services and hi-tech. At this firm, Giovanna led the strategy team for companies such as ICF and SailPoint. Before this, Giovanna spent nine years at world-renowned branding firm, Landor. Here, she played a key role in developing brand strategy and brand engagement and implementation programs for Willis Insurance, Right Management, GE Consumer and Industrial, Dell, Human Genome Sciences, Citi, ACE Insurance, Smith & Nephew, Pfizer and Alcoa. At Landor, Giovanna was also part of the leadership team and head of new business for the New York office.

Before joining Landor, Giovanna gained branding and marketing expertise on both the agency and client side. Giovanna worked at Coca-Cola in Atlanta, leading North American advertising activities for Fanta, Sprite and Diet Coke. As Associate Director of Communications at The Synergos Institute in New York, she preached the virtues of branding for non-profits.

Giovanna spent the first six years of her career at advertising agencies, J. Walter Thompson and DiNoto Lee, both in New York. It was at these agencies that she cut her teeth on new business and brand strategy for both consumer goods and corporate clients.

After obtaining her BA in Sociology from Barnard College, Giovanna lived in Manhattan for 20 years before moving with her husband and two children to Oakland, California in 2016.
